New Start

So the boys had a big win on Tuesday against the visiting Carolina Hurricanes. They play tomorrow night at GM Place against the Blackhawks (who destroyed Calgary last nigth 5-2). This is going to be a big game, come to think of it every game from here until about June is a big game for the Canucks. Chicago have really turned their fortunes around since the passing of their owner last year. They have a very strong, talented young squad lead by Jonathan Toes, Patrick Kane, Patrick Sharp and Brian Campbell. They have beaten the Canucks in their two previous meetings this season (4-2, 3-1).

You really get the feeling that this game in particular has more then the 2 points on the line. The Canucks still only have 2 wins in their last 10 games. And with the standings as tight as they are every game counts. Tomorrow's Chicago game begins a stint where the 'nucks play 10 games in 10 different cities. Its time to start stringing some wins together if they plan to continue playing in the spring. You kind of get the feeling the team is looking forward to getting out of town a little and maybe find that spark they had earlier in the year.

Currently the Canucks are sitting in 9th place in the West, here is it looks like with the teams around them:

5. Anaheim - 57
6. Minnesota - 55
7. Dallas
- 55
8. Edmonton - 55
9. Vancouver - 54
10. Columbus
- 53
11. Phoenix - 53

As the cliche goes, its time for your best players to start being your best players. Roberto Luongo is back but he hasn't really been playing to his standards, Mats Sundin appeared to have arrived last game and I hope that continues, and it would be nice if the Sedin Twins starting playing as the players that they think they are and think they should be paid like. Only time will tell.

But I Love this Team!
